At Sheen Botanical Labels, we offer a diverse range of high-quality materials to suit every horticultural environment. Whether you require the industrial longevity of laminate or the sustainable elegance of timber, our labels are crafted for durability and precision.

Engineering laminate is our most popular and cost-effective material for permanent plant labelling. Specifically designed for external use, it offers a service life of at least 20 years.
- Bespoke Options: We can manufacture custom sizes and shapes to your exact specifications.
- Construction: A robust three-part “sandwich” (Black/White/Black) available in 1.5mm and 3mm thicknesses.
- Finishes: Choose between a classic Gloss or a non-reflective Matte finish.
- Standard Sizes: 50x75mm, 55x85mm, 50x100mm, 60x100mm, and 75x100mm.

Aluminium Labels
Anodised aluminium is increasingly the first choice for botanical institutions. It combines a sleek, professional aesthetic with high environmental credentials.
- Sustainability: Manufactured with recycled content and 100% recyclable.
- Durability: The tough anodised coating protects against UV and corrosion.
- Specifications: Available in 0.9mm and 1.5mm thicknesses with square or rounded corners.
- Specialist Designs: We also produce custom labels for espaliers, rails, and trellis systems.

Alternative & Specialist Materials
For projects requiring a specific aesthetic or heritage feel, we offer several specialist engraving options:
Sustainable Wooden Labels
An ideal choice for smaller projects or eco-conscious gardens. We use reclaimed Iroko or FSC-sourced Western Red Cedar, both proven outdoor timbers known for their longevity and natural weathering.
Cast Alloy Labels (Heritage Range)
Pioneered by early 20th-century makers like John Pinches (Acme Labels) Ltd, we can remake these historic labels in our micro-foundry to special order—perfect for heritage restoration projects.
Eco-Friendly Acrylic (Greencast)
A solid-colour material made from 100% recycled content. These can be engraved and paint-filled, or left flat for use with chalk pens in vegetable gardens and propagation areas.
Traditional Traffolyte
A historic phenolic laminate first developed in Manchester in 1927. While modern laminates offer better UV resistance, we continue to stock Traffolyte for clients requiring authentic replacements for indoor or heritage applications.
